Recommended Application

Characteristics

  • One kilogram of bio-media contains 15,000 m2 of surface
  • Bio-media is a ceramic composite with an exceptionally high surface area, which helps the bacterial colonies to multiply and reproduce
  • Beneficial bacteria adhere to the surface of the bio-media and consume ammonia and nitrogen as energy and carbon dioxide as a carbon source, thus accelerating the process of nitrification.
  • Bio-media helps establish bacterial colonies more than any other product on the market, which in turn reduces the time that the bacteria need to form large colonies that are necessary to stabilize the ammonium and reduce other contaminants in water

Recommended Application

The amount of bio-media needed depends on factors such as water quality, population density cultivation, water circulation, etc.

The starting guide is as follows:

For larvae in hatchery tanks: 1 pound/1000 gal
Fish or shrimp tanks: 2 pounds/ 1000 gal
Ponds: 10 pounds / per acre

It is recommended that the bio-media is installed about 3-7 meters from the aeration systems (if in use) symmetrically distributed in areas where the water flows carrying the bacteria to different points of the pond or tank.

The Bio-media will last for two years, if used correctly.

The inoculation process can be accelerated, by soaking the bio-media in water saturated with bacteria before being installed.
